Booking your session
It’s generally best to book your session 1-2 weeks in advance. While I only take a limited number of sessions to insure that all my clients get the attention they deserve, my schedule is very flexible so I can usually find a time that will work well for any family’s schedule. Contact me by email or phone to book your session, and then I will provide you with the information you will need to prepare for your session.
The best time for a newborn portrait session is within the first 2 weeks after birth. Babies this young photograph beautifully, and it’s a wonderful time to capture their “new-ness”. Feel free to contact me before your baby’s birth to schedule a tentative date for your baby’s pictures, and then if baby doesn’t arrive when planned we can definitely adjust.
What to expect from a Blessings session
Blessings Photography is a home based portrait studio in West Fargo, ND. Sessions are by appointment only.
The average portrait session at Blessings usually runs anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour (mini sessions excluded of course), with newborn sessions sometimes running into 2 hours or more. Basically, we will spend as much time as needed to complete the session and get the job done! Sessions are very relaxed, and never rushed. Before taking any pictures, we will discuss what kind of portraits you are most interested in. Take a moment to browse through my galleries, and get a feel for what style suits you best. And if you have any ideas or special requests, don’t hesitate to let me know!
The clothes you dress your child in will help determine the direction and style that your session will take. Backgrounds and props will be chosen to best suit the look of the outfits. I always encourage clients to bring at least one change of clothing, and even more if you think your child will tolerate it. And it’s fun to mix it up a bit- maybe one casual outfit, one dressy one, and then a really fun, funky, bright colored one! More details on clothing suggestions will be provided after your session is scheduled.
Discs and Ordering
Session discs will be mailed out to you approximately 1 week after your session. If you are interested in purchasing prints or products, you may request an online gallery to be posted where you can place your order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you photograph weddings? Seniors?
Nope, not at this time. My true passion is working with babies and kids, and that keeps me plenty busy. So for now, I’m limiting my services to those areas and sticking with what I love most!
I plan on having my baby photographed several times before her first birthday. Do you have any special offers for that?
If you purchase 2 sessions within one year you will receive 50% off your 3rd one. This is also a great option for those families with several children who would like individual sessions of them around their birthdays.
So I get a disc of my images, what do I do with them?
You will receive printing recommendations along with a print release. You are welcome to share the images online via Facebook, blogs, email, etc. I do ask that you credit Blessings Photography when you share them. I recommend that you make a backup copy (or 2!) of the images in case of disc failure or computer crashes.
What if my child won’t cooperate at their photo session?
Most kids will have a window of time when they are excited about having their picture taken and will cooperate fairly well. But some may not think it’s such a great idea. However, there is definitely no need to apologize for your child acting like a child. I expect to have some difficulties with every session, and it’s a rare pleasant surprise when things go exactly as planned. It’s part of the job when working with kids- expect the unexpected, and roll with the punches!
My child has a scratch on his face- can you remove that in his photos?
It happens 99 percent of the time. If your child is mobile at all- he most likely will get some kind of scratch, bruise, or other visible injury in the week before his photo session. I can’t explain why, but this is just the way it happens with kids! Basic retouching will be done on all ordered images at no extra charge.
Can I bring my pet in for pictures?
While I don’t photograph animals alone, you are welcome to bring the family pet along to be included in some photos with your child.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my session date?
No problem, I’m a pretty flexible gal! If possible, I’d appreciate at least 48 hours notice so that I can offer the time slot up to other clients on my waiting list. I understand that’s not always possible, especially if the issue is a sick child. In that case, just let me know as soon as you can. We’ll work on getting you back on the schedule at another time that works for you.
